Websites - a Case for Time Management In today's world we have soooo many opportunities to fill our day! We find ourselves looking, not for things to do, instead we are looking for things not to do! The day is only 24 hours long, in order to maximize our time we must manage it! This is where a website can be of tremendous help. This may seem like an odd concept at first, we think of our website's as a source of more business; more "things" to do. Which of course they are. However, they can also serve as a tool to better manage our businesses. How much time do we spend each day fielding simple questions on the phone like, "What are your store hours?", "Do you carry "this" item?, "Do you accept personal checks or credit cards?". The list is endless! One at a time it doesn't seem like the cost of these questions is much, but add them up and over time they do. Time is what it is all about. When we are at work our time needs to be spent doing what is going to generate the most income for the business, that is, if we want to be success full. Use your website to improve customer care, and save some time on your part while you are at it. Include pages on your website that address your customer's needs. A simple FAQ (frequently asked questions) page can handle many inquiries that do not require your personal attention. You can allow customers the option to submit requests for support, services, and special products through an online form. Does your business lend itself to allowing your customers to log in and check their account information with you? Is it time to schedule regular maintenance? Is my payment due? All this information and more can be accessed through a well built and secure website. They are viewing your website, take that opportunity to give them something for nothing, provide your customers with something special . . . power! Knowledge is power! Knowledgeable customers are often easier to work with and satisfy than those with less knowledge. If you are in business to do oil changes, by all means tell them who you are, what you do, and that you are the lowest price service in the area; just don't forget to tell them why they need your service. Educate them on the fact that changing the oil on a regular basis extends the life of the car and reduces the amount of repair work they will need over the course of time. Link into other preventive maintenance services like air filter changes, lube jobs, tire rotations and the like. You may even be surprised to find customers that are asking you for additional service without you bringing it up first. I bet that will be an easy sale! Your website is a tool of remarkable flexibility and dexterity. The value goes well beyond that of a marketing tool. Remember to think of ways to improve your customer's online experience. Develop your website to stretch and twist in ways that will save them time, money, and stress. In the end it will do the same for you.
