10 Reasons You Should Continue to Market!

One of the most difficult concepts for entrepreneurs to grasp is the fact that marketing is a continuous process. Many business owners pull back on marketing when times are good, or worse yet they cut marketing when times are slow . . . neither of these things are a real good idea.

Think of marketing a little like heating your house. If you turn the furnace off when you notice the house has gotten nice and warm, you have set yourself up to be cold later. Once you finally turn the furnace back on it takes time to warm the house back up!

Here are ten solid reasons to continue marketing:

  1. The Market Constantly Changes: People move in and out of communities; children grow up and become active as customers; social influences provide constant pressure fueling change in your customer base.
  2. People are Forgetful: Think about the amount of messages pounding on people's brains each and everyday. People are only capable of remembering a small percentage of the information flooding their senses each day.
  3. Your Competition Won't Quit: When people are ready to make the decision to buy; you want to be the provider that they think of first.
  4. Marketing Strengthens Your Brand: Familiarity breads comfort and confidence. When people are familiar with you, they will recognize you as an expert.
  5. Marketing Is Essential: You won't make any sales if no one knows you are there! You must tell people why they need to purchase your products or services.
  6. Marketing Encourages Repeat Business: New customers cost 6 times more to get into the store than existing customers. If you fail to market to your current customers . . . they will eventually become new customers again.
  7. Marketing Leads to Success: Your moral improves when you see your marketing efforts are fruitful. This gives you a boost driving you to greater success!
  8. It is a Competitive Advantage: You will triumph over your competitors that fail to market.
  9. Marketing Allows Your Business to Continue: Even when sales are slow the overhead keeps up. The best way to combat that problem is to remain busy as much as possible. Continuous marketing will help you do that.
  10. You Stand to Lose Out on Time and Money Already Invested in Marketing: If you stop marketing you have to waste time and money getting public awareness back up to speed. You end up re-inventing the wheel time and time again.

Marketing is an investment in your business. Not only in the dollars that you spend and the time you commit; but, as it matures, it becomes more than that in which it started . . . it pays you dividends!

Pulling back on your marketing when it starts to become successful destroys the dividends and moves you backwards. And to make matters worse, you will most likely need to waste money re-investing in ground you had once gained but gave up.

Saving money by cutting marketing is comparable to saving time by stopping your wrist watch.
