Five Steps to writing a Successful Offer that Makes Customers Act!
It can be a daunting task to compose a marketing message that is effective. You can make it less intimidating by following a couple of simple guidelines though. Step 1: Be direct and tell them who you help and what the problem is they are struggling with. The first thing you need to do is connect with your customer. Tell them who you are and what problems you can help them solve. The key here is to create some inner dialog within them that says, "Yes! That is what I need help with; now I know who can help me!" Step 2: List the solutions they have tried and explain why they didn't work. This is a great way to eliminate objections during your "close". Acknowledge that these things, while they seemed like a good idea . . . just were not the solution. This will also provide you with the opportunity to become the expert. They will acknowledge to themselves that you really know your stuff. Be careful not to put them down, or make them feel silly for having tried these things. Be tactful. This is a great time to ask them, "If I can show you a sure fire solution to your problem, do you think you would want to take advantage of it?" Step 3: Tell them what will work. Now that you have reminded them of how they have failed to solve the problem with previous solutions; let them know that there is a solution available to them. Lay it out for them to see. Explain to them why this is the solution that will address the problems they are experiencing. Step 4: Strut your stuff; tell them why you are qualified to help them. This is where you tell them who you are in detail, letting them know you have the education, experience and know how to solve their problem. Sell yourself to them. Step 5: Tell them exactly what the next step is and how to take it. It always amazes me to see how often this step is forgotten. Don't trust they will take the initiative to find you. Tell them point blank to call; click here; stop in our store; etc. Face it, they have enough problems to deal with, you don't need to create a new one and leave them wondering how to take advantage of your offer. If you follow these five simple steps you will find that your messaging is much more effective. The really great thing about this process is that it translates well to any marketing medium. Use it when training yourself to use a 'sales pitch', creating a brochure, printed ad, radio ad or television ad. It just plain works, that is if you put the effort into working it.
